CBP: Mexican man found with 300 rounds of ammo taped to body

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Mexican man has been arrested after authorities reportedly found 300 rounds of ammunition taped to his body as he was trying to cross the Arizona border.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say 27-year-old Yanael Jimenez of Agua Prieta, Sonora, was taken into custody Tuesday at the Douglas port of entry.

They say Jimenez was headed back to Mexico and was searched.

CBP officers say they found six boxes of 9mm ammunition that were in his waistband and taped to his thighs.

Officers seized the bullets and turned Jimenez over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.

It was unclear Wednesday if Jimenez has a lawyer.
