Minor injuries reported from 10-vehicle collision on I-10

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - Only minor injuries are reported from a 10-vehicle collision that has closed a two-mile section of westbound Interstate 10 in south-central Arizona.

The collision occurred Friday morning near Casa Grande and I-10's junction with Interstate 8.

A two-vehicle collision briefly closed eastbound I-10 in the same area a short time later before the vehicles were cleared from traffic lanes.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves said weather was a factor in the westbound accident but that driver error was the cause.

Graves didn't elaborate but thunderstorms crossed southern and central Arizona Friday morning.

Westbound traffic was being detoured around the closure via local roads. The Arizona Department of Transportation said drivers alternatively could take State Route 87 to the Phoenix area.
