Mother, son plead not guilty in murder case

PHOENIX (AP) - A Peoria woman accused of conspiring with her son and another teenager to kill her husband has pleaded not guilty.

Michelle Gibson entered her plea Monday in Maricopa County Superior Court. The 41-year-old faces a number of charges including first-degree murder in the killing of 39-year-old Steven Gibson Sr. He was found beaten and stabbed in the family garage on March 1.

The couple's 15-year-old son also pleaded not guilty Monday to stabbing his father in the chest.

Court documents say the mother and son are accused of planned the murder at least one week earlier.

Michelle Gibson had alleged domestic violence and the fear that her husband would kill her.

It was unclear if either had attorneys.
