Police: Alleged meth user accused of running over victim twice with SUV

PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix man allegedly high on methamphetamine is accused of running over a man twice with his SUV.

Mesa police say 21-year-old Frank Albert Gonzales is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and drug charges.

His bond was set at $50,000 at his initial court appearance Monday.

Gonzales doesn't have an attorney yet.

Court records show Gonzales fled the scene Thursday night and allegedly left the victim with significant injuries including a broken back.

Gonzales told police he was looking for a woman who had the title to his vehicle and found her with another man.

Gonzales allegedly drove at the couple. The man was hit and thrown under the SUV.

Police say Gonzales put the vehicle in reverse and allegedly ran over the man again.
