School bus, car collide; 1 taken to hospital as precaution

BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) - A slow-speed collision between a Buckeye school bus carrying elementary school students and a car resulted in one child being taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Police Sgt. Jason Weeks said the collision occurred Friday morning on a residential street when a parent who had just dropped off a child to get on the bus drove into the back of the bus.

Weeks said the student taken to a hospital wasn't seriously injured and that it was mostly as a precaution.

Weeks said it wasn't known how many students were on the bus but that it was nearly full.

News images showed children being led to another school bus.

Weeks said the bus was hardly damaged. The car's front end was damaged and it was towed from the scene.
