Sierra Vista's main hospital gets ready for big move
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - Sierra Vista's primary hospital is planning a dress rehearsal for a move to a new facility this spring.
The Sierra Vista Herald reports that officials at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center will hold a mock move of patients to the new Canyon Vista Medical Center in mid-March.
The actual move is scheduled for April 23.
Officials say they want to ensure a smooth transition of patients and equipment to the new facility, which is about 3 ½ miles away.
They are hoping to accomplish the move in six hours.
Several non-hospital staff such as local firefighters and ambulance teams will help transport patients.
The current 88-bed hospital serves 40,000 residents in Sierra Vista, Fort Huachuca and Cochise County.
