Transient accused of sexually assaulting Lake Havasu tourist

LAKE HAVASU, Ariz. (AP) - Lake Havasu City police investigating a transient suspected of sexually assaulting and robbing a tourist say he was also manufacturing methamphetamine.

Authorities said Friday that 32-year-old Benjamin Hoaglin is facing multiple counts including sexual assault, identity theft and drug-related charges.

The female victim told police Sunday that she had been sexually assaulted while taking pictures near the Bridgewater Channel.

The victim says she woke up on the sand with her purse missing and only remembers speaking with a man.

Authorities say they found Hoaglin at a transient camp after surveillance footage showed him using the victim's credit card.

They say Hoaglin and 28-year-old Sara Burbridge were found with items belonging to the victim and objects used for making meth.

Both are in the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
