Arizona dog recovers from crash and competes on global stage

It's an incredible story of hope. One dog owner did not give up on finding her dog she lost in a car accident.

She's now sharing her dog with the world in a unique way.

Little Tobie is a world champion, what you don't see are the hurdles she's had to overcome emotionally.

"If you look at her tongue, that was from the crash," said Elicia Calhoun.

The car crash was several years ago near Wilcox, Arizona. Her owner, Elicia Calhoun was with her and several other dogs when it happened. Three dogs were found alive, three were missing including Tobie.

More than 25 hours later, Tobie was found by an airplane helping in the search. Tobie was hurt, and afraid.

"I never thought she would recover from the trauma that she had experienced, but she seems to have turned the switch and everybody is her friend and she loves it," said Calhoun.

Tobie loves to compete, and she's not part of a team who will represent the United States in an agility competition in the Netherlands.

"I knew she was good, and we do it because we love it, but doing agility with her means a whole lot more than just going out and competing to win," she said.

"It's a blessing to have her back every day, every moment you treasure," said Calhoun.

She's a treasure that is now shared on the world stage.

The other two dogs who were missing were found by searchers after the crash; they had died from their injuries.
