PHOENIX (KSAZ) - For 15 years, Valley firefighters have invited their friends, family and guests to join them on a very special trip to Prescott.
"We ride up to the burn camp every year and we use it as an opportunity to raise money for the kids," Steve said.
For one week every summer, dozens of volunteers, counselors, and Phoenix firefighters make up the staff at camp. Aside from being an escape, it's also a safe, supportive place where the campers can just be kids.
"It's a great event, it's a great event for the kids, they get a whole week back up at the burn camp to enjoy themselves," Steve said.
The event is hosted by the Phoenix Wind and Fire Motorcycle Chapter. Each rider pays a small registration fee, which is directly donated to "Camp Courage."
That, coupled with the money raised by sponsors, provides summer fun activities for the whole camp, which is something you can't put a price on.
"They get to do archery, and horseback riding and swimming and all kinds of events, and they get to be with kids like themselves," Steve said.
