"Uber of Lawn Care" app launches in Phoenix

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- Having trouble finding a landscaper? There's a new app called GreenPal, and it just may be the thing your lawn needs.

"We knew if people would hail a ride from a stranger, or allow a stranger to stay on their couch over the weekend for 50 bucks, we knew that at some point, they would hire lawn care providers as well," said Gene Caballero, Co-Founder of GreenPal. They call themselves the "Uber of lawn care".

"No more cash, nor more sending an invoice at the end of the month. No more 'did he come this week? Did he not come this week.' We take care of all that for both sides of the parties," said Caballero.

Caballero started the lawn care service app along with a friend about six years ago. Homeowners post a picture of their lawn to the app, along with the type of service they are looking for. Landscaping professionals using GreenPal will receive a notification if the homeowner is located near their area, and they are able to place bids on the yard.

Ultimately, it's up to the homeowner to decide.
"Not only homeowners get their lawns mowed, they can also get landscaping done," said Caballero.

The app launched in Phoenix about two weeks ago, and it's been a success for vendors like Josh Walls.

"I would say within the hour of completing all the information online, I received my first bid," said Walls.

Now, Wall average around two to three lawns a day.

"While you at work you are receiving jobs still, so the use of technology now a day is pretty awesome," said Walls.
