A valley man who served in the Reagan administration is among many who are mourning the death of Nancy Reagan.

Frank Thorwald became very close with the former first lady while working for President Reagan.

This man played many roles for the administration. He served as a special advisor, and press secretary just to name a few.

He sat down with us today and showed us all of his photos with the former first family.

He says Nancy Reagan was the true definition of class and sophistication.

"They were just the salt of the earth, they really cared about people. When you did something they'd go out of their way to thank you."

Thorwald received many thanks from the Reagan’s over the years.

After meeting the then governor Ronald Reagan at a campaign event...he was one of five people offered a paid position on the national campaign staff.

"I can't think of two nicer people who cared more about this country."

Thorwald held many positions during the entire Reagan administration.

He says some of his fondest memories were made while working with Nancy.

He admired her hard work and dedication while creating her "just say no campaign"...fighting drug and alcohol abuse among young people.

"At the time it was very helpful, it worked a lot and there was a noticeable difference, people were very receptive to it and kids, it sounds crazy in some respects now, but it worked."

Thorwald says another thing the former first lady should be remembered for was her first lady summit when she invited other first ladies from around the world come to the United States.

"We met in Atlanta and it was on a variety of different issues. She tried to bring together the world from a different perspective from the first ladies, and I don't know of anyone who's done that since."

But what she'll be remembered for most says Thorwald.... Was her undeniable love for Ronald.

"She always wanted him to be number one and to look good."

"What you saw on the screen is what they were off, there was nothing fake about it."
