The Great Wall of Trump, how realistic is the Mexico/US border wall

-
One of Donald Trump's boasts is that he says he will build a wall between the United States and Mexico. It's a wall he wants that is so impressive that it may someday be known as the "Trump Wall."

Trump says his expertise as a developer will make it easy, but just how easy would it really be to build a border wall?

Darrin Gray of Mesa is a third-generation masonry contractor. His company recently build a 15 foot high wall at a location in Marana.

What's the tallest he's ever made?

"We've done some walls as high as 36 feet, although some go higher," said Darrin Gray.

He's watched Trump's boasting with interest, specifically the boast about how he could build with ease a 2,000 mile long wall.

Building a wall with precast concrete construction works well enough for a warehouse, but building it along a 2,000 mile rugged frontier. That could be an entirely different matter.

There would need to be environmental surveys, constructing the underground concrete footings to support the wall, buying land for the project, it's a massive undertaking.

So is it realistic?

"I would say probably it is a big deal, but I say it is doable if they're willing to pay for it," said Gray.

What would the cost be? It's unknown for a tall wall like Trump wants, but to finish the current fence in Arizona it would cost almost $5 billion.
