- A violent police pursuit took place in the east valley on Thursday, where a man in a white truck was on the run from law enforcement.

Authorities say they tried to stop the driver when he fled from them along U.S. 60 in Mesa on city streets and also on sidewalks. At one point the suspect ripped 26-year-old Brandon Jenkins from his motorcycle and tried to steal it. But Jenkins wasn't having that and fought with the suspect until officers arrived and the suspect fled in his pickup truck.

Police Chase: Brandon Jenkins says it's a good thing police showed up when they did, otherwise he was ready to defend himself against the chase suspect... with a knife.

DPS troopers and police chased the suspect through Chandler and south of the valley when the pursuit ended on I-10 near Riggs Road when the suspect's vehicle an F-450 pickup rolled over.

"Mesa Police Department officers in conjunction with DPS were able to move in behind him with a vehicle that large enough to take care of a truck that big, and do a PIT maneuver, a maneuver that causes the other vehicle to spin out and hopefully stop that action. In this case it worked, but the vehicle went across the median and rolled, and the driver was ejected," said Detective Steve Berry with Mesa Police.

Paramedics took the suspect to an area hospital, where he is expected to survive and face numerous serious charges.

Marana Police identified the suspect as Joshua Monigold who was wanted for a hit and run crash on Wednesday.

No one else was injured during the pursuit.
