The Peoria Fire Department says the fire broke out at the home near 83rd Avenue and Cholla Street at about 2:30 a.m.
Smoke detectors alerted the woman to the garage fire, who then ran across the street to her neighbor's house and dialed 9-1-1.
The woman's dog was also inside the home at the time of the fire, but it was rescued by firefighters once they arrived at the scene.
Investigators are calling the fire "suspicious," however, their investigation is ongoing.
