Trump supporters threaten lawsuit over GOP delegate debacle

AZ GOP convention

Trump supporters are now vowing to file a lawsuit and say they want a re-vote after Cruz got 28 backers at the Arizona GOP Convention Saturday.

Fox 10’s Danielle Miller spoke to a political consultant who says this might just be a case of smart politics by the Cruz campaign.

Several key political players are saying delegates were not chosen fairly to head to the national convention, people like former Governor Jan Brewer who took to Twitter saying she had been cheated after not being selected as a delegate.

While many people are unhappy, a political consultant we spoke to says this is just how politics work and many people just aren't used to it.

People shared those same feelings from the Arizona GOP Convention Saturday, where 28 backers for presidential hopeful Ted Cruz were elected.

Many people like Raymond Thomas are now calling foul.

Thomas, a delegate from Coconino County, says he clearly stated his support for Trump, but on the ballot he was listed without commitment.

Political consultant Stan Barnes believes that's exactly what happened Saturday.

He says the Cruz campaign just simply out hustled the Trump campaign.

“The Cruz camp is doing a great job at exploiting the other factor," says Barnes. "All of this from an Arizona point of view is all about the second ballot... delegates from Arizona are pro Cruz."

Barnes says he doesn't think there's ever been a lawsuit about the delegate count to come out of a party convention.

He's not sure where one will go because this is more of a political process and not a legal one.
