Joe Arpaio officially seeks 7th term as sheriff

- Joe Arpaio has officially filed petition signatures to seek his seventh-term as sheriff of Maricopa County.

In a press release, Arpaio announced that over 10,000 petition signatures have been filed with the county recorder's office to seek re-election as sheriff.

"I'm so grateful to all the voters who have nominated me for another term as Sheriff," Arpaio said. "I'm especially grateful to all the volunteers who dedicated so much time and effort in helping us reach our goal. Just as I have always done, I will work tirelessly to earn each and every vote from the people of Maricopa County."

Arpaio was re-elected to his sixth term as sheriff in November of 2012.

Former Phoenix police officer Paul Penzone, who lost to Arpaio in 2012, announced in April that he will once again challenge Arpaio for sheriff of Maricopa County.

In addition to Penzone, former Buckeye Police Chief Dan Saban, Roger Baldwin, Mike Bodak and Marsha Hill will all challenge Arpaio for sheriff.
