SURPRISE, Ariz. (KSAZ)
Tonight, a family is looking for the person who shot one of their pet cats multiple times.
That cat now has to undergo surgery and will lose a leg.
The family says what breaks their heart the most is that the person who did this is still out there.
That's why they're sharing their story so maybe this won't happen again.
For the Bowie's, pets aren't just animals… they're apart of the family.
So when their cat London was shot twice, once with a bb gun and once with a .22 gun, they were shocked.
"I don't know why anyone would do this to a cat, I mean he doesn't mean to hurt anybody he doesn't mean any harm, but yeah it hurts me pretty bad," said Lauren Bowie.
As an only child, Lauren says her mom filled the house with pets as she grew up, they acted as siblings.
"I have five cats, three dogs, a lizard, two fish and a kitten I just got and they’re so funny and all have different personalities."
London has been Lauren's baby for years. She says that's why she’s so devastated that he's in pain.
“He's very friendly…I taught him how to hug. He's so outgoing…he's a door greeter."
Now as Lauren and her family try to raise money to pay for London's surgery, she wants whoever did this to know something.
"I really want to find this person and I really want them to know what they did to him and how much they hurt me and him."
London goes in for surgery tomorrow.
Unfortunately because of the way he was shot, they have to remove his front leg.
