TEMPE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Three years ago, a woman disappeared from her Tempe home and her remains were found in a wash a few weeks later. Now, authorities continue to investigate her death in hopes of finding justice for her friends and family.
Authorities say 19-year-old Adrienne Salinas was reported missing by her father on June 16, 2013. He called the police after she didn't show up for Father's Day.
"We have contacted people, we have gone through cell phone records, we have done many, many things in this investigation, but unfortunately, we still don't have what we need and that's the person responsible for this," said Lt. Mike Pooley of the Tempe Police Department.
The day before Adrienne disappeared, she had an argument with her boyfriend. She briefly returned home, then drove away and later crashed her car. While walking home, Adrienne called a cab for a pickup at the AM/PM at Hardy and University. The cab driver says she never showed up.
"We have assisted Tempe in following down several leads and being proactive in this case, not just waiting for leads to come in, but being proactive in an attempt to try to identify a suspect," said Lance Leising, FBI Supervisory Special Agent, Violent Crimes Squad.
A month and a half later, an Apache Junction man found Adrienne's remains on his property. Law enforcement canvassed the area near Highway 88 and Lost Dutchman's Boulevard, but no other evidence was found.
"We don't know how Adrienne got out there and we're hoping that this will refresh someone's memory.. that somebody does know something and we're asking for the public's help," said Pooley.
The FBI is working the Tempe police to investigate this case. They are offering a $20,000 reward to anyone with information leading to an arrest.
"Whoever's responsible for this took a precious soul, a precious individual from a family and they want answers. They want to know who's responsible for this and bring them to justice," said Pooley.
