- Police are investigating a string of armed robberies, with the latest happening at two Phoenix convenience stores.

Phoenix police say the first robbery happened just after midnight on June 22 at a 7-Eleven store located at 2401 E. McDowell Road. A suspect armed with a handgun and wearing a red bandana entered the store and fired shots at the clerk.

The clerk suffered non-life threatening injuries and the suspect left the scene in a newer-model red four-door sedan, with light-colored trim on the driver's side of the vehicle.

About 30 minutes later, police say the same suspect robbed the Circle K convenience store located at 2344 W. Thomas Road at gunpoint.

As with the first armed robbery, the suspect shot the store clerk, who also suffered non-life threatening injuries. However, an armed customer was inside the store and exchanged gunshots with suspect.

The customer was hit by gunfire but is expected to survive.

The suspect left the scene in the same vehicle in both armed robberies.

Police believe these two robberies may be connected to a previous string of armed robberies that have been carried out by the same suspect.
