PHOENIX (KSAZ) -
FOX 10 Phoenix rode along with a AAA crew to see what a day looks like on the road.
AAA has been responding to a record amount of calls in the Valley due to the recent heat wave. Emergency roadside crews are responding to 900 to 1000 calls daily.
“Between Memorial Day and Labor Day we see about a third of the volume that we’ll see for the whole year,” said AAA Fleet Manager Jim Vollmer.
There has been an influx of car fires in the Valley. Although drivers can’t do anything about the heat, Vollmer says there are certain measures drivers can take to prevent breakdowns.
“You can’t just put gas in your car and expect it to do what you need it to do. You have to pay attention to all the fluids in your car; you have to get regular preventative maintenance done on your car,” said Vollmer.
Even with preventative maintenance, AAA suggests that you always have plenty of water with you and maybe even a snack in case of a vehicle breakdown.
