- A 4-year-old girl has died after she was pulled from a Phoenix swimming pool on Tuesday night.

The Phoenix Fire Department tells FOX 10 that when crews arrived at the scene near Union Hills and 44th Street, the toddler had already been pulled from the backyard pool.

The girl was unconscious and was transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital where she later died.

According to investigators, there was a family party taking place at the home and no adults were aware that the girl had gone outside and into the pool area.

As some guests were preparing to leave, they found the child in the pool.

It is still unclear how long the child was under water.

The investigation is ongoing.  The girl's identity is being withheld pending notification of extended family.
