GLENDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police in Glendale are looking for a man who threatened and raped a woman inside her apartment Tuesday.
Detectives believe he was hiding in her apartment, waiting for her to get home.
Officers say the suspect is described as a black male, 18-years-old, 5'7" tall, with a thin build and no visible tattoos.
"Which makes it even more vital that we get the publics help. We want to make sure that this doesn't happen to anybody else and I know our detectives are working around the clock to make sure that we identify and apprehend the suspect as quickly as possible," said Sgt. Scott Waite.
"I feel really sorry for that family and it is very alarming that you cannot come home and that is scary," said Rhonda who lives near the victim.
Neighbors say the police were in the area Friday showing the sketch to people who live near the victim's home around 59th Avenue and Thunderbird in Glendale.
"I always thought this was very safe and I really like living here," said Yvette who also lives near the victim.
She said she lives near the victim and spoke to the police.
"They asked me if I heard anything and seen anything."
Unfortunately, she didn't see anything suspicious but told us their units back up to Thunderbird Paseo Park, a sprawling park and wash, any easy hiding spot for someone looking for trouble.
"It wouldn't surprise me. There are a lot of places to hide and wait down there like underneath the bridge and stuff like that," said Yvette.
Glendale Police say the suspect told the victim he was from California but lives in Glendale.
Police consider him to be armed and very dangerous.
If anyone has information they are asked to call Glendale Police at 623-930-3000.
