Police have released the name of the suspect booked on a double homicide at a mobile home park near Loop 101 and 35th Avenue.
Phoenix police have arrested Brandon Southerland, 37, on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the double homicide that happened on Saturday afternoon.
Officers say they first responded to the home at about 4 p.m. after someone called 9-1-1 saying a man was hitting a woman.
Once on scene, police detained a man and discovered a woman on the ground severely injured and unresponsive, according to Sgt. Vince Lewis with the Phoenix Police Department.
Moments later, police found another man inside a nearby home. He was also severely injured, Lewis said.
Both the woman and the injured man were pronounced dead on scene. The man police detained was taken to the hospital for an unrelated medical issue.
On Sunday, police said they arrested Southerland and that he is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. They also say a knife was recovered at the scene.
Police will remain on scene investigating the cause of the altercation.
