Police investigate Piestewa Peak smash and grab case

Several people returned from their morning hike on Piestewa Peak to find their vehicles broken into on Monday. FOX 10's Marcy Jones reports.

- Several people returned from their morning hike on Piestewa Peak to find their vehicles broken into on Monday.

Four cars were broken into and another was keyed in the parking lots for the trails.

Phoenix police believe the incidents happened around 5:00 a.m. and they're looking for suspects.

Investigators say the good thing is that not a lot of valuables were stolen, mainly car manuals and some paperwork, which is interesting, but obviously, even though nobody should be breaking into your vehicle, hide valuables if you're not taking them with you. Tuck purses underneath your seats or plan ahead. If you're bringing water and already putting on nice shoes, just leave the bag at home and return to get it later.

This is a developing story. Stay with FOX 10 News for updates.
