GLENDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ)
Glendale Police are investigating whether impairment played a role in a crash that killed two valley teens Friday night.
Scott Waite with the Glendale Police Department says the crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. Friday near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road.
Just before the crash, a grey sedan was traveling westbound and attempting to turn south onto 59th Avenue. While making the turn, the vehicle collided with a green truck that was headed eastbound.
Waite says four juveniles were in the grey sedan at the time of the crash.
The front passenger, a 17-year-old girl, and another 16-year-old male passenger were transported to the hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
Another teen was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the pickup truck is a 27-year-old man who was detained for possible impairment, according to Waite.
Glendale police are also investigating whether speed and the color of the intersection light played roles in the collision.
