PHOENIX, Ariz. - A woman claims she was eating a trail mix on Sunday that she bought from a local Walmart, when she found what she believes to be a human knuckle bone.
Now, she wants the company to pull it from store shelves.
"They shouldn't say that it only contains maybe some shells," said Connie McAfee. "They should put it in there that it may also contain body parts."
McAfee said she bought the Great Value Mountain Trail Mix at a Walmart on Stapley and Baseline and that she and her husband snacked on it on the porch when they made the discovery.
"I'm thinking it's my second tooth because two popped out," said McAfee. "It's not the second tooth. It's a bone and a tooth."
After looking at some photos online, McAfee concludes it was a human knuckle bone that was inside. She has filed a complaint with Walmart, and has been in contact with the company.
McAfee hopes the company will foot the $1,800 bill to fix her teeth.
"I'm sick and my stomach is sick. My stomach is sick. I haven't eaten in four days, but soup," said McAfee. She said she will be taking the potential bone to her hand doctor for an analysis.
When shown the photo, a hand doctor said it certainly looks like bone, but nothing can be confirmed until further tests are done.
In a statement, a Walmart representative said:
We're committed to providing our customers with safe, quality products. We take this allegation seriously, and are looking into it with our supplier.
