Police: Suspects in custody after ramming police cars

Arrests were made, after an action-packed night at Talkiing Stick Resort that involved two people allegedly ramming police cars and nearly striking several innocent bystanders. FOX 10's Anita Roman reports.

- It started at the Talking Stick Resort casino in the east parking garage when police say just after midnight officers were called to check out a suspicious vehicle with a couple inside.

"When officers arrived on the scene as they were approaching to make contact with the suspect vehicle, the vehicle started to leave and ended up ramming into one of our patrol cars," said Detective Ed Alameda with the Salt River Police Department.

Det. Alameda says it didn't end there.

"It started to try to exit the parking structure at a high rate of speed, causing several patrons to have to get out of the way that were walking back and forth from their cars," he said. "We attempted to make another stop on the vehicle, the vehicle drove directly at one of our officers who opened fire in order to stop the vehicle."

According to police, the suspect vehicle rammed yet another patrol car and sped away onto the Loop 101.

"As it traveled southbound, units were responding to try to locate and contact the vehicle," Det. Alameda said. "It then exited at the McKellips off-ramp where it became disabled."

The two suspects got out and ran but were quickly caught and cuffed. The on-ramp was shut down for several hours as the vehicle was towed away early this morning.
