PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Phoenix police have arrested a suspect who's accused in a hit-and-run accident in which a pedestrian was killed. The deadly crash happened on South 48th Street and East Baseline Road at 7 a.m., on December 9th.
On Saturday, police announced the arrest of 49-year-old Modesto Burgos in connection with the deadly crash. Sixty-one -year-old David Calhoun was killed on the scene.
Witnesses spotted a license plate number on Friday morning. Police searched the area near 43rd Street and McDowell and found a car that matched the initial vehicle description, which was described as having extensive front-end damage and also possible windshield damage.
Burgos is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident which resulted in death or injury.
North and southbound 48th Street was closed between Baseline Road and Vineyard Road through the morning commute.
