PHOENIX (KSAZ) - The holiday season is also the season for giving, and one Valley teenager has been working for months to give those in need some comfort and warmth, especially in light of recent cold temperatures.
"I collected just over 1,000 coats, and 400 miscellaneous items," said Makenna Breading. She began collecting coats four years ago, and her first donation consisted of 100 coats.
Makenna's efforts will make an impact, especially in a state that ranks among the worst when it comes to homelessness. In Maricopa County alone, there are more than 17,500 homeless individuals.
"It makes me feel really good, because I am making sure that they are not going to bed cold," said Makenna.
