Crime spree across the west valley: Police investigate carjacking, shooting

- Phoenix police say two teenage boys are in custody and that a third suspect is being sought in a carjacking in Phoenix and subsequent shooting in Glendale.

Officials say a car was stolen at gunpoint Friday morning. A short time later, a man was wounded when someone in the stolen car fired shots at a vehicle in Glendale.

"At 1:24 a.m., our officers responded to 61st and Bethany Home for a gun shot wound.  They found a male victim, in his twenties, who had been shot one time.  The male has non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.  The victim and witness reported they were driving on 67th Avenue, between Camelback and Missouri.  They were shot at by a tan 4 door sedan with an Arizona Cardinals plate.  They did not know the suspects or the motive for the shooting," stated Glendale Police Sgt. Scott Waite.

By 4:00 a.m., Phoenix Police officers informed GPD that they had possibly found the vehicle and tried to stop it in the area of 107th Ave. and San Miguel.  The vehicle stopped in a ditch and officials say the occupants fled the scene on foot.

Officer Alan Pfohl says a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old are both accused of armed robbery and that the 16-year-old also is accused of aggravated assault and other crimes.

Phoenix Police Lt. Wayne Dillon says the incidents appear to be random acts of violence.
