Search underway for carjacking suspect in Glendale

- Police in Glendale are on the lookout for an armed man who was allegedly involved in a carjacking incident Thursday morning.

This all started at around 7:00 a.m., during the morning commute, after someone called 911 to report a car fire in the area of 63rd Avenue and Orangewood in Glendale.

The caller said they saw a man walking away from the car that was burning, with a gun holstered on his hip and carrying a bag. As police were trying to find the man, he allegedly carjacked someone, and took off. Officers initially started a pursuit, but the vehicle was last seen in the area of 59th Avenue and Thomas.

The car is described as a white 2001 four-door Chevrolet Prism, with Arizona license plate BBH-18810.. It has rear tail light damage. As for the suspect, he is described as a Hispanic male, about 25 years old, 5' 5" tall, weighing 130 lbs, with possible facial hair. The man was last seen wearing a black hat, with a gray shirt and blue jeans, and carrying a blue duffel bag. The man reportedly has numerous tattoos on his chest.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. If you see the man or the car. Police say you should not approach, and call 911 right away.
