PHOENIX (KSAZ) - UPDATE: Phoenix Police have identified both the victim and homicide suspect from Friday night's deadly shooting.
Reyna Estrada, 15, was shot and killed by her 18-year-old brother, Ignacio Estrada.
According to a statement released by Sgt. Alan Pfohl Friday night, Phoenix Police responded to a call on the 2000 block of West Sherman Street, for a report of a person with a gun.
When officers arrived, they reportedly contacted Estrada with a gun in his possession. Officers then took the weapon, and detained the man. On further investigation, police discovered the victim in a bedroom, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
During the investigation, detectives learned Estrada also fired the gun at his father and missed. The father detained Estrada until police arrived.
Estrada was booked on one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and other felony charges.
