Semi-truck rolls onto pickup truck, spills fuel in west Phoenix

- Several people were injured after a semi-truck rolled onto a pickup truck and spilled fuel into the roadway in west Phoenix.

The Phoenix Fire Department says the collision happened when a semi-truck carrying "Jet A" fuel rolled over on Lower Buckeye Road between 59th and 63rd Avenues and landed on a pickup truck.

Both the 55-year-old semi-truck driver and 25-year-old pickup truck driver were transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. Three other people who were in another vehicle behind the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.

Police also say a Good Samaritan reportedly smashed the window of the pickup truck that was crushed and helped pull out the driver, however, the Good Samaritan's identity is unknown.

Police say the tanker is no longer leaking and there is no threat to the environment. About 150 gallons of fuel leaked out of the tanker.

The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours.
