PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Veteran's Day is around the corner, and this Sunday there is an event to thank and remember our veterans.
A 1944 biplane is part of a ceremony happening this weekend to honor our veterans, it's the 6th annual Honor Walk.
"The father of a son who fought in Iraq, and he lost a friend, and when he came back he wanted to think of a way to honor his friend and all the other veterans, and so we produced the honor walk," said Rick Young.
During the 5K walk two biplanes will fly over the ceremony and a color guard will be playing bagpipes to celebrate the veteran's lives.
"I'm 80-years-old, I feel like I am so lucky that my entire career has been flying," said Rogers Parrish, a retired Colonel.
He says it's hard to learn how to fly the Stearman, even harder to land it, but after you conquer it, you'll know how forever.
"It's kind of like riding a bicycle, you either can or you can't," he said.
The walk will be held downtown at the Talking Stick Arena where the Phoenix Suns play. There will be a raffle to get a chance to fly in one of the biplanes, the cost to enter the raffle is $5.
