Secret #1, there is a grave right along the main road that takes traffic over the dam. It's a grave for the mascot of the dam. Historians say a little dog who a worker found as a puppy roamed the dam site as it was being built, and greeted visitors in the first years the dam was open. He was accidentally run over by a work truck in 1941. Workers placed a small plaque and cement cover to mark the gravesite.

Secret #2, a small piece of World War II overlooks the dam. In the days after the Pearl Harbor attack, the government built a gun emplacement, also known as a "pillbox" to protect the dam from air attack.

Secret #3, there is a four-story office building inside the Hoover Dam. So those who head to their dam job, work in a dam office.

Secret #4, what the crews did with their construction debris. Work crews made a spot for the road to zig-zag down, it was designed so workers could meet the clause in their contract that said they had to put the debris someplace where it wouldn't detract from the views.

Secret #5, the dam, continues to grow. 80 years after the dam opened it continues to get stronger. Concrete cores were drilled in the dam in 1995, and engineers have found the concrete continues to harden, ensuring this wonder of the world will do its job for a long time to come.
