The calendar may show that we are still in the dog days of summer, but for many kids around the valley, it's already time to head back to school.
Classes begin at several valley school districts and police are warning drivers they need to be on the lookout for students who are heading to and from class.
The Kyrene School District is one of several opening Monday, along with several elementary and middle schools in Tempe, Chandler and Avondale.
Drivers are reminded that traffic will be heavy around those schools in the morning and afternoon hours. And in 15-mile-per-hour zones, a speeding ticket can cost you between $420 and $495.
Passing is also illegal inside a school zone.
