8 pets saved from burning home in west Phoenix

- Crews were called out to a house fire in west Phoenix and they ended up making a life-saving discovery.

According to officials, firefighters from Glendale and Phoenix worked together to save the two-story home near 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road from burning and rescued eight animals.

Authorities say owners weren't there at the time of the fire and crews were able to save a majority of the home and the owners' personal belongings.

The home owner tells us her daughter and "Gizzy," a Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix, along with other dogs, were inside the home when the upstairs bedroom caught fire.

Crews easily found all of the dogs, except Gizzy. They eventually located her in the room where the fire started. They say she was hiding in the ashes.

The family believes the fire may have been electrical. But right now, they're just thankful to the fire crews who helped saved their family.
