5-year-old dies following accidental shooting in Avondale

AVONDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - It was a horrific scene in Avondale after a 5-year-old child picked up a handgun, shoots and kills himself.

Avondale Police say the boy, identified as Savier Jones, was home when he somehow got a hold of the gun. His mother was there as well.

Police say the toddler died as the result of an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound at the home near Buckeye and Dysart.
