After suffering several devastating losses, the family was given a special surprise, a home makeover in time for the holidays.Mariana Ramirez stays humble and strong, her family moved into a home in the Coronado Historic District 25-years-ago but have been through a series of hard times. They're trying to keep a positive outlook on life by taking care of others.
"She just does anything to help everybody, and they're just a giving family, and I think that they honestly deserve it," said Alex Powers.Powers nominated them for the home makeover. "The District Phoenix" real estate company, conducted the giveaway and knew the Ramirez family was the most deserving of this gift.
"There're a lot of angles with this family, and they're so sweet, kind, and appreciative, it just made a lot of sense once we met them," said Andy Griffin.5-years-ago Mariana's mother was diagnosed with cancer and years later her nephew died. Earlier this year the home that was being renovated was robbed.
"That one didn't stop me to help people," said Mariana Ramirez.Through all the hardships Ramirez continues to give back. She was born and raised in Mexico, now she donates personal belongings to people there, even taking her son's shoes to give to those less fortunate.
"My son told me those are my shoes, and I told him you have more at home, so don't worry about that one," she said."And I feel so happy, somebody saw my intentions to help people, maybe that's why they're helping me now," said Ramirez.
The renovation work should be done in time before Thanksgiving.
