PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Police responded to Sky Harbor Airport on Thursday night after a witness reported seeing a suspicious bag with wires coming out of its side pocket.
Phoenix police say the witness first noticed the bag just before 10 p.m. near the Sky Harbor Aviation Facilities building at 2415 E. Buckeye Rd. The witness first noticed a black gym bag sitting in a raised planter, but thought it belonged to an employee.
The witness then came back outside of the building, noticed the bag was still there, became suspicious and reported it to his supervisor, who then called police.
When police arrived, they discovered the bag had black wires coming out of its side pocket. Buckeye Road was then closed as the bomb squad moved in to check the bag.
After taking X-rays, the bomb squad determined the bag contained personal items and was not a hazard. A baggage claim ticket was attached to the bag and police are still trying to find its owner.
