PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A fire allegedly started by a child at an apartment complex has left more than a dozen people without a home on Thanksgiving.
Phoenix fire officials say the fire started at about 11 p.m., on Thursday night near 43rd Avenue and Thomas. Eight people were living in the apartment when the flames broke out.
Firefighters say smoke alarms woke up the residents when the fire started and they all got out of the apartment safely. Investigators believe the fire was started by a 4-year-old boy playing with a lighter and paper.
Three apartments were affected by the fire and the fire department is helping all 13 people find a new place to stay.
