SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A valley man was arrested after admitting to authorities his involvement in 25 car thefts and several burglaries.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says 18-year-old Rojelio Armenta was arrested and has admitted to his involvement in 25 car thefts, several burglaries, an armed robbery, endangerment, credit card fraud and felony flight law enforcement.
On Nov. 30, a deputy patrolling near Bella Vista Road and Hunt Highway noticed a white sedan matching the description of one that had been reported stolen. After attempting to stop the vehicle, the car accelerated and led the deputy on a high-speed chase.
Shortly after, the vehicle was spotted by another sheriff's deputy and the suspect was seen running through nearby yards. Following a foot chase, the suspect, identified as Armenta, was taken into custody.
After searching Armenta's car, deputies found a stolen wallet and credit cards. When Armenta was booked into Pinal County Jail, 2.1 grams of heroin was found hidden between his toes.
Armenta has been charged with six counts of vehicle theft and armed robbery, three counts of burglary and two counts of credit card fraud, endangerment, felony flight, possession of narcotics and promoting prison contraband.
Deputies say more charges are expected to be filed in the future.
