Woman hit & killed by several cars on Loop 101

- A deadly and chaotic pedestrian accident shut down the westbound 101 at Hayden for hours on Saturday morning.

At about 1am Saturday a woman parked her four-door sedan right here in this lane just after 1:00 this morning  in the right-hand lane of westbound Loop 101 and shut off her car.  She turned her vehicle off, and it's not clear if she had car trouble since there were no hazard lights on or any kind of lights on at all.  At about that time a Chevy Tahoe hit the car, followed by several cars after that.  The woman was hit and killed.

The woman's body was found about 300 feet from her vehicle.  A spokesperson for Arizona Department of Public Safety says that all the drivers that hit her vehicle pulled over and they have been cooperating with the investigation.  There is no indication that anybody was drinking.   The victim was a woman in her forties and DPS troopers are working to identify her and figure out exactly why she pulled over

The freeway was shut down for several hours from Hayden to Scottsdale while troopers investigated.  The roadway opened back up just before 9am.
