- One Scottsdale business geared towards women has seen orders skyrocket in the past few months.

"We have seen probably 150% growth spike since the Paris shootings," said Carrie Lightfoot.

Recent acts of terror have changed perception, and the owner of "The Well Armed Woman" says more women are taking responsibility for their safety.

"Women historically we've been the protected gender, whether it was our men, or law enforcement, we perceived we had that protection, the reality is we don't, we are our own first responders," said Lightfoot.

She says the mission of The Well Armed Woman, is to educate, equip, and empower women.

"So women who are the target primarily were the target of violent crime, and we have a huge target on our backs. So what being armed does is it shrinks that target so we're more able to protect ourselves in the event something happens," said Lightfoot.

Among other gear, the company sells holsters geared specifically for women. Carries is designed with her smaller frame in mind, and there's more.

"So this would sit under your pantline, or waistband, and keep the firearm just off your back," she said.

Specialty holsters also allow women to carry on their ankle, thigh, or bra.

The company's website offers hundreds of other female friendly gun items, the bling is even fashioned using bullets.

Right now interest is running highest says Lightfoot, in their shooting chapters where women gather to learn and shoot.

"Just regular smart women that are perfectly capable of protecting themselves, if they have the tools to equalize the battlefield," said Lightfoot.
