A Phoenix family is desperate for help to catch a killer.
On Christmas day, a run for groceries turned deadly; and now loved ones want justice.
Fox 10's Marcy Jones sat down with some of those loved ones earlier today and she has their story.
What started off as a joyous holiday ended in a tragic loss of life for this valley family.
"He had just turned 41 December the 9th and we had just celebrated Christmas here, Christmas eve here and then Christmas day, it happened Christmas day."
When Isaac Rivera left Christmas evening to get soda, he said he would be back in half an hour, but that was the last time his family would ever see him.
"Half hour, and that was what his little girl was waiting for him,” said Isaac’s mother, Emma Rivera. “That half hour is gone, and that was it. He was a family man and he told his family I'll be back at a certain time and he would be back at a certain time but then 26 minutes later he was calling that he had been stabbed and for her to meet him at the hospital"
While leaving Circle K, someone had robbed Isaac of his bike and stabbed him in the back. A short time later, he died of his injuries at the hospital.
"He was a family man, he leaves behind a wife and two small children, he had a really big heart, he liked to see everybody smiling… he was the first one to put a smile on your face,” said Jose Gutierrez, Isaac’s cousin. “He always wore a big smile on his face and always wanted everybody to be happy."
Now, as loved ones try and pick up the pieces, they hope to bring whoever did this to justice.
"We don't know who did it, we're asking for the public's [help], said Gutierrez. “If they know of anything, heard of anything, seen anything… if they could please help by coming forward and helping us with that."
We've put up a Go-Fund-Me link on our website for Isaac and his family. Go to fox10phoenix.com for more information.
