PHOENIX (KSAZ) - An overnight fire has left seven people displaced from a north Phoenix home.
The Phoenix Fire Department tells Fox 10 that the fire happened at the home near 28th Street and Grovers. Part of the roof collapsed as a result of the fire and there is smoke and water damage to the home.
Nearby neighbors who were out celebrating New Year's Eve stepped in and tried to help save the home by spraying it with a garden hose.
"When they showed up, they had flames showing and a lot of smoke and a lot of people moving around the streets," Capt. Mike Billingsley said. "I mean, obviously it's New Year's Eve, so we got a lot of people moving around any way and a lot of calls on this."
The Phoenix Fire Department Crisis Response Team arrived at the home to help the displaced residents find a new place to stay.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
