A newborn baby was found dead in a dumpster overnight. Now police need your help identifying and locating the mother.
“This is a terrible, terrible tragedy.”
Just after midnight, a transient couple was digging through a dumpster behind a Food City in Glendale when they came across a baby boy.
Both police and fire responded to the scene, but the baby boy was already deceased. Violent crimes detectives are now investigating; hoping to find who the baby belonged to.
“We don’t have much information on who this baby is or how it ended up there or why,” said Sgt. David Vidaure with the Glendale Police Department.
Vidaure says all hospitals were notified to be on the lookout for any woman who appears to have recently given birth.
They do not believe the baby was born in a medical facility.
“A newborn baby is defenseless as they come and we are here at the Glendale Police Department [want] to get answers on behalf of that child.
Glendale police would like the community to be on the lookout for a woman who was recently pregnant, but is now no longer pregnant but doesn’t have a newborn.
Police also want to remind the community about the Safe Haven program. If, for any reason at all, you or someone you know does not want or cannot care for your child you can surrender your child at any fire station or hospital with no questions asked.
