SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - The Phoenix Open is underway and thousands of people are looking to have a good time.
If you're going to drink, there's a way you can now check your alcohol level yourself before leaving.
"As people come out of the golf course today and out of the event, if they've had any amount of alcohol to drink whatsoever, they can walk up to the officers," said Steve Hash, of Scottsdale police. "There's a giant DUI van out there labeled 'Scottsdale Police Department.' They can walk up, have a good interaction with the officers and talk about how alcohol affects people, take this test and find out where they're out."
Officers say the PBT can help you decide whether you should drive or not and it just takes a couple of seconds and once you see your number pop up, then you can make a smart decision.
"If they're at a .08 or higher, we are going to strongly suggest that they get a safe ride home," Hash said.
Which will be easy to do with this Uber Lounge just north of the event, where 300 Ubers and taxis are awaiting passengers.
"We park and we get a request from the riders and tell them what slot we are in and they actually meet us here at the parking lot and we take them wherever their destination is," Paul Luce said.
There are many ways to have fun while remaining safe. So don't drink and drive and take it from these ladies.
"You could easily kill someone and you know we are actually lucky that we only have to pull weeds on the side of the road," Jesse Wosua said. "Other people kill people and then how would you be able to live with yourself after that? You could kill yourself just as easy. You might get away with is a couple of time, but in the end it's really not worth it.
