Police in Surprise are looking for leads into what led to the death of two women in Sun City Grand. The murders have neighbors on edge.

A sunny picture perfect day was overshadowed by the tragedy in a Surprise, Arizona home. Two women were found dead in Sun City Grand, a retirement community.

"It kind of got this whole neighborhood paranoid and skittish, including myself," said Randall Nottenkampe.

Police are searching for a suspect, and announced a major development in the case; the victim's stolen red 2012 Buick Enclave was found at a west valley apartment complex.

Police say they surveyed the unidentified complex, but a suspect did not return. Authorities have not said whether the murder is random.

"I would be relieved if they found it was someone they knew, or someone they had a grudge with, rather than have some some outside doing this," said a resident.

Police discovered the victim's bodies after receiving a call for a welfare check. Officers arrived, looked in the window, and saw the bodies on the ground.

The victims have been identified as 70-year-old Barbara Leslie, and a visiting friend whose name was not released.

Neighbors have been stopping by as they passed the home, puzzled how a double murder could unfold in such a vigilant community.
