9-year-old hitting the pavement to collect turkey for those in need during Thanksgiving

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- A 9-year-old girl is helping make sure Arizona families won't go without food this holiday season.

Madelyn Neckles heard about the need for turkey donations at St. Mary's Food Bank, and started hitting the pavement to collect turkeys, and help out.

After hearing the food bank was still in need of 6,000 turkeys, Neckles was eager to help in any way she can. The 4th grader made a goal for herself to collect 100 turkeys, and to get the attention of neighbors and relatives, she even created a flyer.

In just two days, Neckles has collected over 93 turkeys. Although she very close to making her goal, she is going to continue to work to make sure every family has a meal, this Thanksgiving.
